The office copier and baptism by colour

Article in Drawing Matter, 2019

The architect Aldo Rossi was known for immortalising his completed structures in drawings: like the architecture of the Bonnefantenmuseum in Maastricht. Marc Kocher created one of these artistically and technically extremely sophisticated drawings for Rossi in 1990. Kocher intensively studied photographs and drawings of Maastricht for its design. On this basis, he used a special technique with a Canon colour copier to create a hand-coloured colour photocopy, which he mounted together from three sheets. Several vanishing points on the left and right sides underline the size of the museum project.
